Bridging Faith and Health to Strengthen Inclusive Health Access for Rural Transgender and Gender-Diverse People

This project was implemented to strengthen collaboration between faith leaders, health workers, and community peer educators in improving access to inclusive health services for rural transgender and gender-diverse people.

Key Issues Addressed

  • HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and Malaria prevention, treatment, and care
  • Barriers to healthcare access for transgender and gender-diverse communities
  • Stigma and discrimination within health and faith settings
  • The role of faith leaders in promoting inclusion, dignity, and accurate health information
  • Strengthening referral pathways and community support systems

Through capacity-building and dialogue, the project fostered greater understanding, strengthened partnerships, and promoted more inclusive approaches to healthcare access for transgender and gender-diverse people in rural communities.

Project Partners: The project was implemented with support from Trans Youth Initiative (TYI) - Uganda through the Gender Equality Fund (GEF).
