Organization History

Talented Youth Community Fellowship Uganda (TAYCOF) was founded in 2022 as a faith-based organization committed to addressing the unique spiritual, social, and economic challenges faced by transgender women and other LGBT+ individuals. Established by passionate community leaders and advocates, TAYCOF emerged from the growing need for an inclusive and affirming space where individuals could freely express both their faith and identity without fear of discrimination, exclusion, or rejection.

As the first transgender-led faith-based organization in Uganda, TAYCOF was created to bridge the gap between faith, inclusion, and human dignity. The organization was founded on the belief that every person deserves access to spiritual fulfillment, community support, and equal opportunities regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Guided by the principles of love, justice, equality, and compassion, TAYCOF strives to create a welcoming environment where diversity is celebrated and every individual is valued.

Since its establishment, TAYCOF has worked to provide holistic support that extends beyond spiritual care. Recognizing that many LGBT+ individuals face social exclusion, economic hardship, stigma, and limited access to opportunities, the organization adopted a comprehensive approach that combines spiritual growth, community development, economic empowerment, education, advocacy, and leadership development.

Over the years, TAYCOF has implemented a variety of programs and activities designed to meet the diverse needs of its community members. These include inclusive worship services, spiritual counseling, support groups, educational workshops, advocacy initiatives, social events, leadership training, health and wellness programs, and social and economic empowerment activities. Through these efforts, the organization has created safe spaces where individuals can build meaningful relationships, develop new skills, strengthen their faith, and access the support needed to thrive.

TAYCOF also actively engages in advocacy and outreach initiatives aimed at promoting acceptance, equality, and social justice. By collaborating with faith leaders, community organizations, civil society groups, and other stakeholders, the organization works to challenge discrimination, foster understanding, and contribute to the creation of a more inclusive society.

Today, TAYCOF continues to serve as a beacon of hope, faith, and empowerment for LGBT+ individuals and their allies. Through its ongoing commitment to spiritual enrichment, community support, human rights advocacy, and economic empowerment, the organization remains dedicated to building a future where every person can live authentically, experience dignity and belonging, and achieve their full potential.
